This Autumn a team of 14 amateur trekkers, co-led by Gregor Townsend and Zoe Smith, will summit “4 peaks in 4 days for 40tude” on the Ginza Ridge in the Northern Japanese Alps. Their aim is to raise awareness of colon cancer as well as funds to establish the Tom Smith Screening Fund to pay for bowel screening for younger people. Find out more here Read more
Since 40tude was founded in 2011 we have organised 12 tough cycle rides in Europe, 6 exhilarating stand-up paddleboard marathons on the Thames and a series of memorable Adventure Challenges, including summiting Mt. Toubkal (North Africa's highest mountain), Mt. Elgon in Uganda (4,321m) and Mt. M'Goun (4071m) in Morocco, as well as 100km treks across the Sahara and the Wadi Rum in Jordan.
In 2022 we completed a (very wet) adventure in Oman's remote Musandam Peninsula, as well as a winter Telemarking Challenge in southern Norway, while 2023 saw yet more extraordinary challenges for 40tude, including our a summit of Mardi Himal in the Himalayas - at 4,500 metres the highest point ever to be reached on a 40tude adventure; the Muckle Flugga Brompton Challenge, in which a team of six successfully made it from the southern tip to the northern tip (Muckle Flugga) of the Shetland Isles using only Brompton bikes and inflatable kayaks; the Colmar Cycle Challenge for which 25 cyclists rode up to 494km over 3.5 days, taking on some Tour de France features; and our Transylvanian Challenge, for which an intrepid team summitted five peaks in just three days of trekking.
