Who we are Our Story Our Story Since 40tude was founded in September 2011, we have raised more than £2.3 million to help cure colon cancer. We achieve results through innovative partnerships with a remarkable group of participants, sponsors, donors and medical specialists. 40tude raises funds and promotes awareness of colon cancer via a series of events and physical challenges. So far these have numbered six Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Marathons - a mass paddle over 26 miles on the River Thames - and 12 Cycle Challenges in Europe. We've also completed several spectacular Adventure Challenges: a winter summit of Mount Toubkal, Northern Africa's highest mountain, 100 kilometre treks of each of the Sahara and the Wadi Rum over four days, and a summit of Mount Elgon in Uganda (4,321m). In 2022 we completed a (very wet) adventure in Oman's remote Musandam Peninsula, a winter Telemarking Challenge in southern Norway and a new summit challenge: reaching the peak of Mt. M'Goun in Morocco's Central Atlas Mountains, as well as our cycle challenge in the Alpes Maritimes. During 2023 a series of yet more arresting challenges were successfully completed in the name of 40tude: a summit of Mardi Himal in the Himalayas - at 4,500 metres the highest point ever to be reached on a 40tude adventure; the Muckle Flugga Brompton Challenge - one of the most unusual challenges ever undertaken for 40tude, in which a team of six successfully made it from the southern tip to the northern tip (Muckle Flugga) of the Shetland Isles using only Brompton bikes and inflatable kayaks; the Colmar Cycle Challenge for which 25 cyclists rode up to 494km over 3.5 days, taking on some Tour de France features; and our Transylvania Challenge, in which our intrepid team summitted five peaks in just three days of trekking. Our supporters also take part in a range of personal challenges and sponsored events on behalf of 40tude throughout the year.
