Well done to 40tuders Russell Green, Darren Charles and David Burling (aka Big Dog, Pocket and Burlingo) who have completed their massive cycle ride for 40tude: 1,100 miles from their home town of Beaconsfield to Nice in less than a fortnight, with only a small support crew (thank you Rosie and Amy!).

Russ, Darren and Dave have braved 40tude's own cycle challenges previously, including our extremely wet Coast to Coast challenge this time last year!  For their Grand Depart on 17th September and first leg to Portsmouth they were joined by several friends and fellow cyclists, including Dave’s colleagues and good friends of 40tude, Doctors Warren Hyer and Simon Gabe from St. Mark’s.  40tude’s founder Gordon was also spotted amongst the peloton!

As they made their way to Nice they were grateful for some sunshine, the picturesque views and and many a coffee stop on the way! They've also summitted Mt. Ventoux and braved other steep climbs as they raced to meet our peloton for the start of 40tude's annual cycle challenge taking place in the Alpes Maritimes from 28th September.  For the latter part of their ride they were joined by fellow 40tuder Mike Fairman.

Why did they they set themselves this challenge? To raise awareness of colon cancer, and to raise funds to support the work of 40tude and St. Mark's Hospital, where David is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and and expert in bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease imaging. David is the Program Director for the St. Mark’s Virtual Colonoscopy programme, and led the PERFECTS programme, designed to improve the availability of screening using the CT Colonography technique, which 40tude has been proud to support.

There's still time to acknowledge their significant endeavour: you can make a donation to their joint fundraising page for 40tude here:
