Congratulations to JP Miller who recently successfully swam solo across the Channel in support of 40tude. He reached the finish point in the time of 15 hours and 15 minutes in the morning of Monday, 14th September after swimming most of the route in the dark of night.

Normally to be found amongst 40tude’s peloton, JP (“Just Phenomenal”) has fulfilled a long-term aspiration to mark his 50th birthday.  Most people would choose a more glamorous way to celebrate this milestone, but not JP.

“I’ve always been a keen distance swimmer and this has been an aspiration for as long as I can remember,” he says. “I’ve never found the time and last year I turned 50 and realised that if I didn’t make time it just wouldn’t happen. So when asked by my family what I wanted for my 50th birthday, my answer was simple – I wanted to do this.”

He undertook this incredible feat in memory of his father, who had colon cancer, and has now raised almost £13,000 for 40tude as a result of this epic challenge.

Well done JP, we are all very proud of you!
