This article in The Times newspaper, regarding a new blood test being trialled by the NHS, highlights how important it is to actively get yourself screened for colon cancer - currently the biggest cancer killer in the UK for non-smokers.

Early detection is key to surviving colon cancer, and the research 40tude is supporting is designed to help the NHS achieve its target of finding 75% of cancers at an early stage. However the lower efficacy of this trial blood test in detecting bowel cancer compared with other types of cancer highlights the need to still get screened regularly from your mid-40s for this type of cancer, ideally by means of ‘gold standard’ screening methods such as Colonoscopy and CT Colonography.
